How to Search St. Tammany Parish Civil Court Records

St. Tammany Parish offers two separate online record systems. Each covers different record types and time periods. Knowing which one to use can save you time and money before you subscribe.

Legacy Public Records Program

This system covers land records (conveyances and mortgages) along with civil cases filed through April 25, 2019. If you need to look up an older civil case or any land record, this is the right portal. Subscription fees are $20 for 24-hour access, $30 for one month, or $360 for a full year. Note: Effective January 1, 2026, all credit card transactions on this site carry an additional 2.75% processing fee. Online copy fees are $0.75 per page.

Odyssey WebROA

The Odyssey system covers civil and criminal records from 1992 to the present. If you need a more recent civil case (after April 2019), this is the system to use. It costs $20 for 24-hour access, $40 for one month, or $480 for a full year. The clerk's office notes: "Cases sealed by the court or by operation of law are not available to the public." This is true for both systems. Sealed case records are not accessible online or in person through the public record system.

St. Tammany Parish also participates in the free eClerks LA statewide index. This lets you search the record index at no cost. You can confirm whether a case exists and get basic filing information before deciding whether to subscribe to one of the paid portals.

Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure Article 251 requires the Clerk of Court to keep all filed civil records and make them available to the public. Every petition, answer, motion, and judgment becomes part of the public case file. Anyone can request to view a file. You do not need to be a party in the case, and you do not need to state a reason. Under La. R.S. § 44:1-41, inspection of public records is always free. You only pay for copies.

Records sealed by the court are not public. The clerk's office is clear on this: "Cases sealed by the court or by operation of law are not available to the public." Adoptions, juvenile matters, and records sealed by court order fall into this category. If a file is sealed, the clerk cannot give you access to it, regardless of how you make your request.

If you need records from before 1992 or before the parish transitioned to the Odyssey system, the Legacy portal is the right tool. Civil cases from 1992 forward are in Odyssey WebROA.
